How do I open and use multiple tabs in my internet browser?
Having multiple pages open in your browser.
Be effective using the Internet, it's a good idea to have multiple pages open at once. If you haven't done this before, it's a good idea to practice navigating from one screen to another. Here's some steps to help you use the Internet and have multiple tabs open.
Step 1: Open the Internet Browser
- 
Look for the internet browser icon on your desktop or taskbar. 
 (Common browsers are Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.)
- 
Double-click the icon to open it. 
Step 2: Go to a Website
- 
At the very top of the screen, find the long white bar (this is called the address bar). 
- 
Click inside the bar, type the name of the website (for example: www.google.com), then press Enter.
Step 3: Open a New Tab
- 
At the very top of the browser, just beside the first tab, you will see a small plus sign (+). 
- 
Click the + to open a new tab. 
- 
The new tab will be blank, ready for you to type in a new website. 
Step 4: Switch Between Tabs
- 
Each website you open will appear as a small rectangle (tab) at the top of the browser. 
- 
To move between them, just click on the tab you want to look at. 
Step 5: Close a Tab
- 
To close a tab you no longer need, click the small X on the right side of the tab. 
Tip: You can have many tabs open at once. This is useful if you want to keep one website open while you look at another.
