Step 4: Assess the Quality of Assessment Tools and Resources

The quality of the RTO's assessment tools is one of the most important — and most overlooked — factors in choosing a VETiS partner. Schools are often in no position to evaluate training package compliance independently, but there are observable signals:

• Does the RTO use standardised, professionally produced assessment tools or improvised materials?
• Are assessment tasks clearly explained and communicated to students and facilitating staff?
• Does the RTO provide training resources as well as assessment tools?
• How does the RTO handle assessment moderation — do they have a clear quality assurance process?
• What happens if a student's assessment is borderline — is the process transparent?
