Step 1: Confirm an RTO's ASQA Registration and Scope

Before anything else, check the RTO is currently registered with ASQA and holds the qualifications you want on its scope.

The first and most basic check is to confirm that any RTO you are considering is currently registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and holds the specific qualifications you wish to offer on its scope of registration.

You can verify this directly on the training.gov.au website. Search for the RTO by name or registration number and confirm:

  • The RTO is listed as 'Active' (not suspended, cancelled, or under conditions)
  • The specific qualifications you want to offer are listed on the RTO's current scope
  • The scope includes delivery in your state
