Can RPL Apply to the TAE40116 Upgrade? Fast-Tracking Your Transition

If you are already applying the skills in the transition units, RPL may reduce what you need to do.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can apply to the TAE40116 to TAE40122 upgrade, just as it can to the full TAE40122 qualification. If you are already applying the skills addressed by the transition units in your current practice, you may be able to demonstrate competency through evidence rather than completing new learning.

When does RPL make sense for the upgrade?

RPL for the upgrade units is worth exploring if:

  • You are already actively integrating language, literacy and numeracy considerations into your training design and delivery — which aligns with the TAELLN521 unit
  • You regularly facilitate training using online platforms, learning management systems or technology-enhanced delivery tools — which aligns with the TAEDEL524 unit
  • You have existing documentation of your practice in these areas, such as session plans, LLN mapping tools, e-learning resources or platform activity logs

What evidence is typically required?

For TAELLN521 RPL, evidence typically includes examples of how you have identified LLN needs in your learner group and adapted your training or resources in response. This might be training plans with LLN annotations, modified resources, or a professional account of your LLN practice supported by a third-party statement.

For TAEDEL524 RPL, evidence typically includes examples of e-learning sessions you have facilitated — screen recordings, platform analytics, learner feedback or facilitator notes — along with a professional account of how you manage online delivery.

What if RPL is only partially applicable?

It is common for RPL to apply to one transition unit but not the other, or to apply partially rather than in full. In this case, the upgrade is structured so that RPL credit is granted where evidence is sufficient, and learning is completed for the remaining requirements. This is the most efficient approach for most experienced trainers.

Blueprint Career Development will review your current practice and documentation before the upgrade commences and advise you honestly on whether RPL is a viable and efficient pathway for your specific situation.
