Upgrading Your Trainer Workforce — A Guide for RTO Compliance Managers

Step 1 — Audit your trainer records

Step 2 — Determine individual upgrade requirements

The upgrade pathway is not identical for every TAE40116 holder. The specific transition units required depend on the electives each person completed in their original qualification. Set a realistic target completion date for your upgrade programme. Consider delivery schedules, assessment submission timelines and any upcoming audit periods. Having a documented plan — with individual trainer names, start dates and target completion dates — is important evidence of proactive management if the upgrade status is raised in an audit.

Step 5 — Confirm completion and update records

When each trainer completes their upgrade, ensure their qualification records are updated and the Statement of Attainment is filed. Confirm with your RTO's systems team that the updated qualification is reflected in trainer files and any relevant compliance registers.
