TAE40122 Assessment Requirements — What You Will Need to Demonstrate
Assessment in TAE40122 is practical and evidence-based — here is what is actually required of you.
One of the most common questions people have before enrolling in TAE40122 is: what will I actually have to do to complete it? The assessment requirements are practical and evidence-based — this is not a qualification where you sit an exam and receive a result. You are required to demonstrate real competency in the skills that trainers and assessors use on the job.
What assessment in TAE40122 involves
Assessment tasks across TAE40122 typically require you to:
- Design and develop a plan for a training program, including session plans and learning resources
- Design and develop assessment tools that meet the principles of assessment and rules of evidence
- Deliver a training session to a group of real learners and have this observed by your assessor
- Conduct a formal competency assessment of at least one learner and produce a documented judgement
- Participate in an assessment validation activity with other trainers or assessors
- Demonstrate an understanding of language, literacy and numeracy considerations in your training context
What 'real learners' means in practice
Most TAE40122 programmes require you to conduct your observed training delivery and competency assessment with genuine learners — not other TAE students role-playing as learners. This is an important quality requirement. You will need to identify a group of at least three learners in your vocational area and arrange access to them for your practical assessments.
For many students, this is straightforward — they are already working in a training role and can use their existing learners. For people who are new to training, Blueprint Career Development will work with you to identify suitable options.
