TAE40122 Entry Requirements — Who Can Enrol?
What you need before you start — and what to do if you are not sure you meet the requirements.
TAE40122 does not have a long list of formal prerequisites, but there are entry requirements that reflect the nature of the qualification and the practical assessments involved. Understanding these before you enrol saves time and ensures you can complete the programme without unnecessary difficulty.
Vocational competency in the area you intend to train in
This is the most significant entry consideration. Trainers are expected to have genuine competency in the vocational area they will be delivering. This typically means holding a qualification at the same level or higher than the training you intend to deliver, or being able to demonstrate equivalent vocational experience.
This requirement exists because TAE40122's practical assessments involve delivering training and assessing learners in your own vocational area. If you are planning to train hospitality students, for example, you need current skills and knowledge in hospitality — not just an interest in training.
Access to learners for practical assessment
To complete TAE40122, you need access to a group of real learners for your observed training delivery and competency assessment activities. This does not mean you need to be employed as a trainer before you start — but you do need a realistic plan for how you will access learners during your enrolment. Blueprint Career Development will discuss this with you as part of the enrolment conversation.
Language, literacy and numeracy
TAE40122 involves reading and interpreting training packages, writing assessment tools and producing professional documentation. A solid level of written English is important for completing the qualification successfully. Blueprint Career Development assesses language, literacy and numeracy as part of the enrolment process and can discuss support options where needed.
No formal academic prerequisite
There is no minimum formal education level required to enrol in TAE40122. The qualification is open to people from all educational backgrounds, provided the vocational competency and learner access requirements can be met.
