How VETiS Qualifications Interact With ATAR and University Pathways

A common concern among students and parents is whether studying VETiS will negatively affect a student's ATAR or university pathway. In general, VETiS qualifications are designed to complement — not compete with — academic study. Students can study VETiS alongside their ATAR-contributing subjects.

In Queensland, VETiS qualifications do not directly contribute to the ATAR calculation. However, they do contribute towards the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). For students who are borderline on meeting the QCE requirements, VETiS can play a critical role in securing their credential.
