What is professional development?

All trainers need to do regular professional development. It’s a way to ensure that all VET trainers and assessors continue to be at the front of innovation and quality education.

There are many ways to participate in professional development activities. These include subscribing to forums, blogs, newsletters and journals. Attending webinars, workshops and conferences. Subscribing to your Skills Service Organisation, ASQA updates and NCVER updates. Belonging to professional organisations such as VELG, VETNETWORK, ITECA, AITD.

Undertaking relevant professional development ensures you are complying with Standard 1.16 of the Standards for RTOs You can read more about the standards online at: https://www.asqa.gov.au/resources/fact-sheets/meeting-trainer-and-assessor-requirements
