What is the Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) Initiative?

For many Queensland schools, the cost of vocational education programs is a genuine barrier to participation. Students from lower-income families may miss out on qualifications that could transform their employment prospects simply because their school cannot afford the delivery cost or their family cannot afford the fees.

Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) funding exists to remove that barrier. Under the Queensland Government's Career Ready initiative, eligible secondary school students can access nationally recognised VET in Schools (VETiS) qualifications entirely free of charge — and the school can access additional funding to reinvest directly in the student learning experience.

The Skills Assure Supplier initiative is administered through the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT). Under the initiative, the Queensland Government contracts with approved Skills Assure Suppliers — registered training organisations that meet specific quality, compliance, and delivery standards — to deliver funded VETiS qualifications to eligible secondary school students. The RTO receives government funding in exchange for delivering the qualification, meaning the student and their family pay nothing.

The initiative is designed to ensure that all Queensland secondary school students — regardless of their family's financial circumstances or the resources available at their school — have access to high-quality vocational education.

Blueprint Career Development (RTO #30978) is an approved Skills Assure Supplier for 2026. This means Queensland schools can partner with Blueprint to deliver funded hospitality and tourism qualifications to their students at no cost.
