What is VET in Schools (VETiS)?

VETiS lets Australian secondary students study nationally recognised vocational qualifications as part of their formal schooling.

VET in Schools, commonly abbreviated as VETiS, is a national initiative that enables secondary school students to undertake vocational education and training (VET) qualifications as part of their formal schooling. These qualifications are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and delivered according to the Standards for Registered Training Organisations.

VETiS programs are available across a wide range of industry areas — from hospitality and business to sport coaching, wellness, and careers. Qualifications range from Certificate I through to Certificate IV level, depending on the subject and the student's year level.

Unlike traditional school subjects, VETiS qualifications assess students against industry-specific competency standards. Rather than sitting an exam on a topic, a student in a VETiS hospitality program might be assessed on their ability to prepare a meal to workplace standards, follow food safety procedures, or interact professionally with customers. The assessment is practical, contextualised, and directly applicable to employment.

As a Queensland-based RTO (#30978) and approved Skills Assure Supplier, Blueprint Career Development delivers VETiS programs — built specifically for the secondary school environment.
